Great Changes on the Great Lawn

On campus, our summer experience includes the start of some Great Changes on the Great Lawn! Whether you are dropping off for Summer University or visiting The 51 Store, you’ll soon notice construction safety fencing around our Chapel and the Burnett Great Lawn and lots of activities happening within.

Thanks to heroic fundraising efforts by our Capital Campaign volunteers, sufficient funds have been raised to begin the first phase of Campaign construction - the Chapel expansion and new Student Union! The timeline as it stands today is to complete the Chapel expansion in August 2017 and Student Union in the fall of 2018.

Please be aware that Chapel parking areas will be closed this summer, but we expect all other parking areas to remain available. Please also know safety is always our number one priority. All construction personnel have been thoroughly vetted and cleared to be on campus and are only allowed to be in designated construction areas.

We are excited to share details throughout this process, so stay tuned! Capital Campaign fundraising will continue in the Quiet Phase to secure the next round of support to re-purpose our current Dining Hall spaces into dynamic academic and Fine Arts venues. If you have any questions about the Capital Campaign and construction plans, please don’t hesitate to contact Susan Doyle or Keira Moody.
